I often develop an idea on paper first. It’s an opportunity to test colors, texture and mark making. Concepts and constraints develop quickly and I can take different risks on paper than I can on panel. I love using a variety of materials on heavy weight paper where I can endlessly scratch and layer. Or, use constraints to create unencumbered compositions that float freely. All pieces are one of a kind and never to be duplicated.
