Studio as Metaphor

Here’s my setup when I’m in Brazil. The same pad, pencils, table and organization. Tea. Or coffee. This is the only place where I do these illustrations. I’m limited by materials and space.

I work at all hours, sometimes late into the night if it’s particularly humid. This trip there’s been plenty of rain and cool breezes. I can see the street from my position and know the time of day by the sounds.

There is no reason for this work other than the joy of doing it.

“What did you do as a child that created timelessness,
that made you forget time? There lies the myth to live by.”

-Joseph Campbell
