If he’s awake I will not be on a screen.

That’s my promise to…

Puppy Pippin!

My new studio mate arrived last Wednesday and he’s going to live up to his name.  He has quite a yelp already and I think he’s going to be a bold one.  Even at 8 weeks his personality is coming through loud and clear.  The moment he entered the house I let out a huge sigh; as if I were letting the air out of a balloon.  Finally.

The Promise

I make this promise to all my critters.  No divided attention.  When I’m with you, I’m 100% with you.  I see you, hear you, feel you, get you.  Whether horse or puppy, they deserve my full attention.  Being mind readers they know when you’re with them or not.  How can you trust or connect with someone if they’re not paying attention?

I’ve had Lila walk away from me when she saw I was on a screen.  That’s what I want to do when I’m with someone who is device heavy.  The energy goes sour and I want to go South.

So how am I writing this post?  Puppy Pippin is asleep in his crate.  Spent the morning shaping that behavior so it’s a positive experience.  I thank Mr. First for helping me understand small steps worthy of praise.

Be happy for the small steps.  Be with your critters.  Put away devices.  A lot.

Does your presence bring a smile?

XOXO,

Francesca
